Uses of Acai Palm

Acai berry is a small round black-purple fruit similar to grape. It is harvested as food in some parts of the Brazilian Amazon. Acai berry has gained popularity as a dietary supplement. It is being marketed in various forms including tablets, juice, smoothies, and freeze dried acai berry. It is even available in powder form to be constituted into an instant drink.

The acai palms from which the berries are harvested have other commercial uses. The leaves are made into hats, mats, baskets, brooms and roofing material. The trunk is popular as a construction material because it is resistant to pests. They are also being processed to yield minerals. As you can see, aside from its benefits as food, acai palm has a lot of other uses.
