herbal teas

Tea is traditionally made from the leaves of the tea bush. There are infusions that are made from anything other than tea leaves and these are called herbal teas. Herbal teas can be made with fresh or dried flowers, leaves, seeds or roots, generally by pouring boiling water over the plant parts and letting them steep for a few minutes. Seeds and roots can also be boiled on a stove. The tisane, as the herbal tea is otherwise called, is then strained. A sweetener may be added if desired.

Drinking tea has been associated with certain health benefits. Chamomile tea will soothe an upset digestive system and it seems so relaxing. Rooibos tea is a wonderful antioxidant. Mint teas are aromatic and very calming. Hawthorne lowers cholesterol and strengthens circulation.
