L-carnitine

Being an endurance athlete, I keep track on the latest supplement science can offer. One of the most promising of supplements, I’m interested in, are the ones with L-carnitine. L-carnitine is an amino acid that increases your energy by using more fat as fuel. It can also be used for weight reduction. To advocates of L-carnitine, it is the most indispensable amino acid for fat reduction.

It is the goal of every endurance athlete to use more fat as fuel instead of glycogen. By using more fat as fuel, the body saves glycogen in the liver thereby boosting endurance and stamina. It will also slow down lactic buildup in the body. Technically, the energy derived from fat can power the body days on end. In short, L-carnitine will do what endurance athletes try to do in terms of training. To build one’s endurance takes years of training. L-carnitine will hasten that process. That is why L-carnitine is so important for us endurance athletes.
