New Age thinking is very popular these days. People are looking at holistic approaches to solve everything. As a result people are studying eastern practices. Eastern civilization takes pride in holism. This also gave rise to alternative medicine as well as alternative treatments. Parts of these medicines are alternative supplements.
When I say “alternative medicines or alternative supplements” it means practices, treatments or medicines that has not been scientifically studied or proven at least not in the western medicine. Lately, mainstream science is starting to look these practices and medicines now. Since most medicines takes forever to pass government regulations, most alternative medicines will be classified as alternative supplements. These supplement industry has become big business these days. It is a multi-billion dollar business that is rivaling that of approved medical treatment.

Most illnesses are stress related. As a result people who are sick are looking at holistic healing instead of straight modern science therapy. Medical treatment might cure the symptoms but more often it will not cure the cause. For example, a bypass will cure a heart condition but if you don’t exercise and change your eating habits, your bypass won’t last you very long. You’ll just clog another artery.
Holistic healing is seeking medical treatment as well as committing to change to a healthier lifestyle. It is basically being proactive. Aging is like a ticking time bomb. Sooner or later it will explode. Living a healthier life will move that clock some.

The time you reach junior high is the time most people get self conscious. It might be because your body is changing or because kids are mean or maybe both. To avoid bullies, it is best to look and smell clean. You don’t want to give them any bullets to use against you. You can’t change your looks (yet) but you can shower everyday and wear good deodorant.
Using deodorant is important unless you want to be known as smelly. It’s the worst and most embarrassing of name calling. Then again, “skid marks” is worse but that’s another topic. I suggest get your kid to wear deodorant at the onset of puberty or slightly earlier if he/she is predisposed. Deodorants are cheap, being called smelly will last a lifetime.

~Testing of potential drugs without using animals or human testers

Researches estimate that around 45% of men and 30% of women snore on a regular basis. In addition, people who are not regular snorers report causes of snoring as affected by drinking alcohol, when recuperating from a viral illness, or when under some medications. In general, as a person gets older and as he/she gains weight, snoring will worsen.
When we are asleep, the area at the back of the throat sometimes becomes constricted. Thus, the same amount of air that goes through this smaller opening makes the tissues surrounding the opening to vibrate. This, in turn, can cause sounds of snoring to be produced.

It’s no wonder that spray tanning is becoming more and more popular. The reason is that you get the effect fast and easy. You can get that bronzed effect from spray tan applied in a tanning salon; you can also apply it on yourself. You will get the look equivalent to a couple of day’s vacation on the beach in just a few minutes. Walk proudly as you watch people take a second look at your alluring tan.
Whether you let professionals do it in a salon or you apply it yourself there is a need to prepare your body. Exfoliating and applying a good moisturizer a few hours before applying the tanning solution will result in a better looking tan. Standing still for about 30 seconds after a self-tanning application will ensure that your tan dries evenly. While it may take a lot longer to dry completely, the first minute or more is when you run a real risk of rubbing off the self-tanner before it has a chance to work. Covering up some parts of the body that you don’t want tanned is a big help. Use gloves, booties or clothing to cover these parts.

High blood pressure affects a lot of people and to most of these people, monitoring their blood pressure is a way of life. To determine whether a person has low, normal or high blood pressure, a blood pressure monitor is needed. Monitoring a person’s blood pressure may be done anywhere. It can be done at home or in doctor’s clinics. The important thing is that an accurate blood pressure monitor is in use.
Electronic blood pressure measuring devices are more commonly used. The advantages of these devices are that they are accurate for routine clinical use and are relatively inexpensive. They are eliminating the many errors in blood pressure measurement that are caused by human miscalculations. The most convenient way to take blood pressure is with wrist blood pressure monitors. You simply wrap the cuff around the wrist, press ’start’ and the blood pressure and pulse readings will be displayed on the large digital panel.

Most seniors would rather live alone than move in with their children. In some cases, they are not even welcome in their children’s homes, especially if they have an uncooperative spouse. Living at home can be a great thing for seniors and a way to feel proud and independent as they age. They are happy to be left alone and do the things that they want to do. However it can also be a major challenge.
Independent living for seniors can bring on a few issues. One will be medical care. Another will be making sure that they are living in a safe-for-seniors home. We are all too familiar with old folks falling and causing some nasty broken bones and cuts. Alert devices can be a big help but they are not enough.

Incontinence is a problem to many people, most of them, the aging population. Wetness can cause the skin to breakout and the body chemicals can cause odor. The main reason for this disorder is medical but to the patient, it is more than that. It totally disrupts his lifestyle and can cause a sizable dent on his budget. Whatever remedies are available in the market can be a big help.
There are various products that are appropriate for different needs. Medline disposable pads provide protection according to the patient’s needs. Medline is aware that incontinence doesn’t have a ‘one-size-fits-all” solution. That is why it offers products that will fill the need of the individual needing it. Incontinence pads are made of polymer to hold fluids and prevent wetness from touching the patient’s skin or their linens. In addition to wetness protection, incontinent pads also prevent slipping, unwanted odors, and accidents from occurring.
