There are different types of first aid kits. Whether you bought it already packed or have put it together yourself, the contents vary depending on the use for these kits. One type used by emergency rescue workers is the Respond first aid kit. From the name itself, it is used primarily to respond to emergencies. So the contents of this type of first aid kit are definitely different from the ordinary home first aid kit.
Contents may include alcohol wipes, bandages and gauze pads. But these may include more advanced supplies like a sphygmomanometer and a stethoscope. As you can see, first aid kits vary in contents depending on their specific use. Treatments for accident victims which are primarily treated by emergency rescue workers require more advanced supplies than treatment for home emergencies like cuts and scrapes. Be sure to stock up on the supplies needed for your own first aid kit.

Recent breakthroughs in stem cell studies have already put forward success in life saving treatments. For instance, bone marrow transplants have been used to treat leukemia. Tissue patches have been used on burn victims. They have grown islet cells that produce insulin to treat diabetes and healthy brain cells to ease the symptoms of disorders like Parkinson’s disease. They have genetically changed cells and then used them to deliver healing or protective agents to injured or diseased areas of the body.
All these have helped improve the lifestyle of some lucky sick people. But that is nothing compared to the potential that stem cell study can do in the future. But as in all major breakthroughs, it is not a clear path that researchers are faced with. There are groups that oppose stem cell research; a disagreement that is more a moral issue than medical. Let us hope that the issue is resolved soon enough so that scientists can go full blast into discovering cures of those who are hopeless as of now.

There really isn’t a problem with aging. Aging is a fact of life. The only difference I wish would happen to me, personally, is to age beautifully and gracefully. Unfortunately, this might not come true at all. Osteoarthritis or OA is the most common joint disorder that is caused by the ‘wear and tear’ on a joint. This occurs when the cartilage which is the one responsible for allowing joints to glide over one another, breaks down and wears away. This causes the bones to rub together which results in pain, swelling, and stiffness. As this occurs, bony spurs or extra bone may form at the joint, and the ligaments and muscles become weaker and stiffer.
The cause of OA is actually unknown and mainly related to aging. Also, OA tends to run in families, has higher risk to overweight people, and may be caused by previous fractures or joint injuries and overuse at work or in sports. That’s 4 out of 4 risk factors for me. Nevertheless, I am not worried because with the way modern science continuously evolves, I am sure there are more OA treatments out there for me.

AEDs or automatic external defibrillators are portable electronic devices that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to treat them through defibrillation, the application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm. Coupled with the proper administration of CPR or Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation, it gives a greater advantage in saving a life.
An automatic external defibrillator is used in cases of life threatening cardiac arrhythmias which lead to cardiac arrest. The rhythms that the device will treat are usually limited to Pulseless Ventricular tachycardia and Ventricular fibrillation. It is designed to be simple to use and is taught in many first aid, first responder, and basic life support (BLS) level CPR classes. Learn to use it and it would make a huge difference.

The eyes are one of the more important parts of our body. Unfortunately, we tend to take it for granted. We only realize its value when our eyes suffer from problems that cause failed eyesight. Many plants contain substances that are useful in the maintenance of health in humans as well as animals. These aromatic substances such as phenols and substances such as alkaloids serve as defense mechanism of the plants against predators. Humans benefit from these useful medicinal compounds when they take herbal supplements. Some are in the form of herbs and spices. Others are processed into pills and other medicinal forms.
Herbal remedies have been used since time immemorial. Examples are aloe vera that has been traditionally used for healing burns and wounds. Ginger in capsule form effectively decrease nausea and vomiting in pregnant women. Garlic lowers cholesterol levels. Milk thistle is also recognized as a liver tonic.

There are a number of people who are dependent on medication when it is unnecessary. I have a few friends who take sleeping pills regularly so that they can get a good night’s rest. I even know a couple who takes pills to help with their sex-life. In fact, I know several who drink pills to help them do what they want to do. This may seem alright at first but it will take its toll on you later on in life.
I’ve believed in using natural means to induce or promote something in your body like aromatherapy. Doing it the natural way will help you guide your body into doing something that should normally and quite naturally take place. Induce sleep and relaxation by filling the air with scent of lavender. Promote intimacy with your loved one with the scent of rose or patchouli. Let natural ways take over.

Many people are becoming more health conscious these days. They are now more aware of everything else that would be better for their health. Consequently, this awareness to make themselves healthy is also the trigger to make everything and everyone around them healthier, too. There is only one way to describe this and that this is good.
One of the most popular means of becoming healthier is through proper nutrition. Eating healthier food, cooking food in a healthier way and drinking healthier drinks like green tea. There are a number of green tea health benefits and most of them you will find online or on the box itself. In my opinion, the most significant green tea health benefit is the fact that it lowers cholesterol levels. This is highly significant in itself. By lowering your cholesterol levels, you prevent cardiovascular disease, lower you weight and just feel good as whole. Drink green tea now!

A nice tan is something to brag about. It presupposes that you have spent tranquil days soaking the sun in some luxurious resort. The result is an even bronze shade that is the envy of many. What you are not telling them is that yours is a fake tan. It is the result of applying tanning solution.
You may be condoning a lie, but that is a good thing from another point of view. It is the point of view of dermatologists who would rather that you stay in the shade rather than under the sun. Tanning under the sun can bring problems. It can induce one to age faster and worse, contract some major skin diseases like skin cancer. Tanning solutions are, after all, better alternatives.
