Marijuana has a long history of medicinal use. This has evidence dating back to as far as more than 2000 BC. Medical marijuana or medical cannabis is considered by some physicians as a form of medicine or herbal therapy. In fact medical cannabis is now legal in 13 states across America.

Although the scope of the medicinal value of this plant has been questioned, there have been documented beneficial uses. These include the alleviation of nausea and vomiting, stimulation of hunger in chemotherapy and AIDS patients, general pain relief effects and lowered intraocular eye pressure which has been shown to be effective for the treatment of glaucoma.
