The Benefits of Antioxidants in Acai Berry
Acai berries are considered one of the healthiest fruits in existence. These berries can usually be found in Native American rainforests as wild plants on top of palm trees. They are harvested and turned into a nutritious fruit pulp by native farmers. This fruit pulp, which is deep purple in color, has numerous nutrients, fibers and antioxidants, makes it one of the best super foods of today.
The antioxidant acai berry contains powerful and abundant antioxidants, which aids in slowing the process of aging. These antioxidants are Vitamin C, polyphenols and flavonoids. The flavonoids seek out oxygen-reactive species that destroys tissues and cells, thus causing aging. Another antioxidant is a compound known as anthocyanin, which also serves as the berry’s pigmentation. These compounds work like flavonoids. Vitamin C acts on collagen cells to keep hair healthy and help the cartilage grow.
