The guidelines for the treatment of diabetes are clear and simple. The objective is to correct metabolic irregularity. By eating the right food, blood glucose will be maintained at a targeted level. This will control blood pressure and ensure weight management. A good diet will also reduce the risk of complications.

Diabetes and exercise comes hand in hand. The person with diabetes should have a program of exercise. This will improve blood circulation, strengthen the heart and bones and attain ideal weight. It will also help to de-stress. Taking prescribed medication is also a must. It is obvious that a team consisting of a doctor, a dietician and other health care professionals is needed to help a patient manage his diabetes.
