Make Way for Healthy Metabolism

The thyroid gland is the most important gland in the body as far as metabolism is concerned. It takes iodine from the foods that we eat and converts it into thyroid hormones. There is no other cell in the body that can absorb iodine. Iodine, together with amino acid tyrosine combines to produce hormones that regulate metabolism. This is the process where oxygen and calories are converted into energy.

There are ways to a healthy metabolism. It seems unbelievable but eating more can boost metabolism. This is because the actual process of breaking down food burns calories. Eating several small meals throughout the day will burn up more calories through the digestion process. Of course, you have to choose sensible foods that are high in fiber and protein.
