The Lebed method was developed in 1979 by Lebed Davis and her two brothers, who are both physicians. The dance exercise program was originally intended for their mother who needed to regain movement in her arm following a mastectomy. Following her own diagnosis in 1996, Davis brought the program to hospitals around the country.
