home first aid kits
First aid kits are for every member of the family, including pets. But since accidents more often happen to children, home first aid kits are packed with things that children will usually need. The American College of Emergency Physicians suggests that these items be in your home first aid kit:
~Acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and aspirin tablets (just keep in mind that aspirin should not be used to relieve flu symptoms or be taken by children.) ~Cough Suppressant ~Antihistamine ~Decongestant tablets ~Oral medicine syringe (for children) ~Bandages of assorted sizes ~Bandage closures; safety pins ~Triangular bandage ~Elastic wraps ~Gauze and adhesive tapes ~Sharp scissors with rounded tips ~Antiseptic wipes ~Antibiotic ointment ~Hydrogen peroxide ~Disposable, instant-activating cold packs ~Tweezers
Adult members of the household should know where the kit is kept, what is in it and they should also know how to use the contents especially medication. Write down a dosage table of the medicines taking into account the ages of the children. Writing down also the contact number of your family doctor may be useful someday.
