commode
The elderly who is weak and shaky can get help from modern equipment made especially for them. The commode, for example, can be used by a person having difficulty getting to the bathroom unassisted. It is an adult potty chair that can be situated next to the bed for easy access. There are different models and designs of commodes. The choice will depend on who will be using it and how and where it will be used.
There are commodes that sit over the toilet, models that fold and there are bariatic commodes for the heavy weight. These are for patients weighing 250 pounds and over. If use is limited in the bedroom, a folding commode is not necessary. If, however, it will be transported from one room to another, a collapsible piece will be an advantage. One with a collapsible arm will be useful if the patient has to be helped from the bed to the commode. This is usually the case in bedridden patients. Before buying a commode, analyze the needs of the patient and choose a style that will be most convenient for him and the caregiver.
