There are those of us who tend to look lowly of those who are sick or with various disabilities. Like everyone else in this world, they also have the right and the freedom to do as they like. They would also need to be given the same opportunities as others in order for them to live as normal of a life as possible. We cannot discount the fact though that there are still narrow minded individuals who tend to belittle these people.

We would need to give these individuals a chance to make something for themselves and to be able to achieve things. Movements such as independent living aims to provide the first step in making sure those with disabilities or elderly are given much importance and chances in order to live with dignity despite their shortcomings. Negative attitudes towards these individuals must never be encouraged.
